In accordance with the instructions of Energy Minister Shri Pradyumna Singh Tomar, the Atal Grih Jyoti Yojana is being effectively implemented by the Western Region Power Distribution Company. This scheme is providing benefits to eligible consumers, offering them electricity at a rate of just ₹1 per unit for up to 100 units. As of November 10, a total of 30,55,000 consumers have benefited from the scheme, with these consumers receiving electricity at the concessional rate, resulting in a subsidy of ₹151 crore for the month.
The Managing Director of Madhya Pradesh Western Region Power Distribution Company, Ms. Rajani Singh, informed that the Atal Grih Jyoti Yojana is being successfully implemented in 8 districts of the Indore region and 7 districts of the Ujjain region. Under the scheme, consumers receive the first 100 units of electricity at ₹1 per unit, with the remaining bill amount being reimbursed as a subsidy to the company. Eligible consumers can receive up to ₹550 in subsidy per bill.
The successful implementation of the Atal Grih Jyoti Yojana by the Western Region Power Distribution Company has resulted in significant subsidies across various districts. In Dhar district, 3 lakh consumers received ₹16 crore in subsidy, while in Ujjain, 2.80 lakh consumers received ₹13.91 crore. In Khargone, 2.69 lakh consumers benefited from ₹13.39 crore, and in Ratlam, 2.28 lakh consumers received ₹11.29 crore.
Similarly, in Mandsaur, 2.17 lakh consumers received ₹10.54 crore, in Dewas, 2.16 lakh consumers received ₹11 crore, and in Barwani, 2 lakh consumers received ₹10 crore in subsidy for the month.
151 Crore Subsidy Provided to 30 Lakh Consumers: In other districts, subsidies ranging from ₹4 crore to ₹8 crore have been provided to between 84,000 and 1.75 lakh consumers. In total, 30,50,000 consumers across the Malwa-Nimar region of Western Madhya Pradesh have received ₹151 crore in subsidy under the Atal Grih Jyoti Yojana.
