In the month of December, the Ministry of Consumer Affairs, Food & Public Distribution banned the export of onion till 31-March-2024. The main reason for the ban was to prevent under-invoicing and wrong export. Also, the common consumer can get onions at cheaper prices. Not only this, but the Center has also directed NCCF and NAFED to purchase 7 lakh tons of onion from farmers. In the last one month, the price of onion has fallen by about 55 to 60 percent.
Farmers of many states are facing serious problems, farmers are disappointed after seeing the sudden fall in the price of onion.
