Weather Update 10th january 2024 Fog and Chilly Wave Expected

Minimum temperature: In Punjab, Haryana, Chandigarh-Delhi, Rajasthan, and Uttar Pradesh, the minimum temperature is in the range of 5-10°C. In Madhya Pradesh and Bihar, it is 11-13°C. In many places, these temperatures are normal (-1.0°C to +1.0°C), while in Punjab, Haryana, Delhi, and western Uttar Pradesh, as well as Bihar, Madhya Pradesh, and eastern Uttar Pradesh, it is more than 2-4°C. In some places in Rajasthan, it is less than -1.0°C to -3.0°C. Today, the minimum temperature recorded is 3.8°C in Sikar (eastern Rajasthan).

Tomorrow: Most places in Punjab, many places in Haryana and Chandigarh, some parts of Rajasthan, and small regions in North Central Madhya Pradesh will experience cold days. Cold days will continue in some places in Delhi, and there will be cold in some small areas of Uttar Pradesh and Uttarakhand.

Fog Situation Today (05:30 and 08:30 IST): In some parts of Punjab, eastern Uttar Pradesh, and eastern Rajasthan, dense fog (visibility 50 meters) is prevalent in the morning. Isolated pockets of fog are reported in Haryana-Chandigarh, western Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, and Odisha. Dense fog between 50-200 meters is reported in isolated pockets of Jammu division, Uttarakhand, Jharkhand, North Madhya Pradesh, West Bengal, Sikkim, Meghalaya, and Tripura.

Isolated areas in Tamil Nadu: Heavy rainfall occurred, and moderate rain was reported in Kerala, Marathwada, Central Maharashtra, and Madhya Pradesh.

Madhya Pradesh: The state is experiencing three types of weather simultaneously—rain in some areas, intense cold in some, and chaos caused by fog in others. Although there is a slight increase in minimum and maximum temperatures in the state, Gwalior region is witnessing a sharp drop in temperature.

Forecast and Warnings for the Next 5 Days: Madhya Pradesh, Gujarat, Konkan, Goa, and Central Maharashtra: There is a possibility of light to moderate rain with wind and thunder on January 10. Particularly heavy rainfall is expected in southern Tamil Nadu today. In the impact of the above systems, light to moderate rainfall is likely in some places in Tamil Nadu, Kerala, coastal Karnataka, and Lakshadweep during the next 2 days, followed by the possibility of dry weather.

Dense Fog and Cold Day Warning:

• On January 11 and 12, 2024, there is a possibility of dense to very dense fog in different parts of North Rajasthan for some hours in the morning, which will decrease later.
• From January 11 to January 15, there is a possibility of dense fog in different regions of Punjab, Haryana, Chandigarh, Uttar Pradesh, Assam, Meghalaya, Mizoram, and Tripura for some hours in the morning.
• On January 10, in some parts of Haryana, Chandigarh, and Delhi, Punjab, and various regions of Uttar Pradesh, there is a possibility of the continuation of cold days to cold wave conditions.
• On January 10 and 11, 2024, there is a possibility of cold days continuing in different regions of Rajasthan, followed by their cessation.

Temperature Forecast and Cold Wave Warning: In the next 3-4 days, a drop of 2-3°C in minimum temperature is expected in many parts of Central and East India.

• There is no likelihood of a cold wave situation in the country in the next 5 days.
• On January 11 and 12, 2024, there is a possibility of ground frost in Uttarakhand.
