As the pre-monsoon season sets in across most parts of the country, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued warnings for heavy to extremely heavy rainfall in several regions over the next few days. Yesterday, significant rainfall was recorded in coastal Karnataka, Chhattisgarh, Madhya Maharashtra, and Kerala. Here's a detailed forecast of the expected weather:

Rainfall Expected in Various States on June 9

According to the IMD, several locations in Madhya Pradesh can expect light rainfall, hail, and thunderstorms with wind speeds of 50-60 km/h today. Additionally, the following states are likely to experience inclement weather:

  • Himachal Pradesh, Goa, Madhya Maharashtra, Coastal Karnataka, Kerala, and Mahe: These regions may witness heavy to very heavy rainfall, with isolated extremely heavy downpours.
  • Sub-Himalayan West Bengal and Sikkim, Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, and Meghalaya, and South Interior Karnataka: Heavy rainfall is expected in isolated areas.
  • Rajasthan: Isolated thunderstorms or dust storms accompanied by lightning and strong winds (30-40 km/h) are likely.
  • Madhya Maharashtra: There is a possibility of thunderstorms with lightning and winds reaching speeds of 50-60 km/h.

Rainfall Forecast for the Next 4-5 Days

The IMD has predicted light to moderate rainfall, along with thunderstorms, lightning, and strong winds (30-40 km/h) in various locations across Bihar, Jharkhand, West Bengal, Odisha, Madhya Pradesh, Vidarbha, and Chhattisgarh. Furthermore, moderate rainfall with thunderstorms, lightning, and winds (40-50 km/h) is expected in the regions of Konkan and Goa, Madhya Maharashtra, Marathwada, Karnataka, Kerala and Mahe, and Lakshadweep.

Coastal Andhra Pradesh and Yanam, Rayalaseema, Telangana, Tamil Nadu, Puducherry, and Karaikal: These areas can expect light to moderate rainfall in isolated places over the next five days.
