Residents across various parts of the country continue to be affected by persistent rainfall. The Meteorological Department has released a forecast for weather activities expected this week. Here’s a detailed look at the weather forecast from July 28 to August 1.
Heavy Rainfall Expected in These Areas:
- Gujarat Region: Extremely heavy rainfall (≥ 20 cm) is likely in some areas.
- East Rajasthan, Konkan & Goa, Madhya Maharashtra, Saurashtra & Kutch, Kerala & Mahe, Coastal Karnataka: Heavy to very heavy rainfall (≥ 12 cm) is expected in certain locations.
- Uttarakhand, Haryana-Chandigarh-Delhi, West Rajasthan, Himachal Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, Vidarbha, Chhattisgarh, Sub-Himalayan West Bengal & Sikkim, Odisha, Arunachal Pradesh, Assam & Meghalaya, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram & Tripura, Tamil Nadu, Puducherry & Karaikal, Interior Karnataka: Moderate to heavy rainfall (≥ 7 cm) is anticipated in various areas.
Thunderstorms and Lightning Expected:
According to the Meteorological Department, thunderstorms accompanied by lightning are likely in parts of Madhya Pradesh, Vidarbha, Chhattisgarh, Sub-Himalayan West Bengal & Sikkim, Bihar, Jharkhand, Arunachal Pradesh, Gujarat Region, Tamil Nadu, and Puducherry.

Stormy Weather Conditions to Persist:
Arabian Sea and Bay of Bengal:
- Northeastern and adjacent northwestern Arabian Sea, central Arabian Sea, northern sections of southeastern and southwestern Arabian Sea, along and off the shores of South Gujarat, Maharashtra, Konkan, and Goa: Wind speeds of 35-45 kmph, gusting up to 55 kmph, are expected.
- South Bay of Bengal, central Bay of Bengal, southern parts of north Bay of Bengal, north Andaman Sea, off north Andhra Pradesh coast: Similar wind speeds and stormy conditions are likely.
- Gulf of Mannar and west-central Bay of Bengal: Wind speeds of 45-55 kmph, gusting up to 65 kmph, are expected.
- Central Arabian Sea, southwest Arabian Sea, southern parts of north Arabian Sea, along and off the coasts of Somalia and Oman: Wind speeds of 45-55 kmph, gusting up to 65 kmph, are anticipated.
