The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has predicted significant rainfall across various regions due to cyclonic circulations affecting weather patterns.
One cyclonic circulation is situated over northeast Assam, and another is over north Bangladesh, causing strong winds at lower tropospheric levels from the Bay of Bengal to the northeastern states.
In western and southern states, heavy rainfall is expected in Telangana and Marathwada today, June 16, while central Maharashtra and the Gujarat region are likely to experience heavy showers on June 19. Over the upcoming five days, Konkan and Goa are anticipated to experience widespread light to moderate rainfall accompanied by thunderstorms and lightning, while central Maharashtra and Marathwada may see scattered showers.
The southern peninsula will also see widespread light to moderate rainfall accompanied by thunderstorms, lightning, and gusty winds (30-40 kmph) in Karnataka, Kerala & Mahe, Lakshadweep, and the Andaman & Nicobar Islands. Coastal Andhra Pradesh & Yanam, Rayalaseema, Telangana, Tamil Nadu, Puducherry, and Karaikal will experience scattered light to moderate rainfall over the next five days.
Rainfall Outlook for Eastern States : In eastern states, scattered light to moderate rainfall with thunderstorms, lightning, and gusty winds (30-40 kmph) is expected in Gangetic West Bengal, Bihar, Jharkhand, and Odisha over the next three days, with an increase in intensity thereafter. Isolated heavy rainfall is predicted in Odisha on June 18 and 19.
Rainfall Expectations in Northeastern States : Northeastern states will see light to moderate rainfall with thunderstorms, lightning, and gusty winds (30-40 kmph) over the next seven days in Arunachal Pradesh, Assam & Meghalaya, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram & Tripura, and Sub-Himalayan West Bengal & Sikkim. Extremely heavy rainfall is expected in Meghalaya from June 16 to 19 and in Assam from June 17 to 19.
