Heavy rains have been wreaking havoc across various parts of the country, with the southern Indian district of Wayanad in Kerala experiencing a devastating landslide. The torrential downpour has led to massive destruction and claimed several lives, marking one of the most severe disasters this monsoon season. The IMD had issued a red alert for several areas in Kerala on July 29, during which heavy rainfall was recorded in many surrounding regions.

Orange Alert Issued in Kerala for August 1:

According to the IMD, heavy rains accompanied by thunderstorms and strong winds are expected in several areas of Kerala weather today, August 1. Some regions might experience extremely heavy rainfall. The weather in Kochi, Vellanikara, Kollam, Kozhikode, Thiruvananthapuram, and Wayanad is likely to remain adverse, with the possibility of severe rain and storms. The IMD has issued an orange alert for Kerala, warning residents to be prepared.

Additionally, the IMD forecasts extremely heavy rainfall in Goa on August 2-3, in Maharashtra on August 3, in Madhya Pradesh on August 1-2, and in Gujarat on August 3.

Thiruvananthapuram: On August 1, the sky will be overcast with moderate to heavy rain or thunderstorms. The maximum and minimum temperatures are expected to be 32°C and 25°C, respectively.
