People of all age groups already have a preference for green peas. This season, the demand for green peas is higher compared to usual days, and they also fetch good prices in the market. Farmers in Uttar Pradesh are increasingly embracing modern farming practices. Many farmers in the state are successfully integrating technology not only to cultivate more efficiently but also to double their profits in less time. A farmer from Hardoi, Uttar Pradesh, began cultivating peas using a new technique and achieved success. He replaced traditional irrigation methods with sprinkler technology in his fields, resulting in a 25 to 30 percent increase in earnings.
According to media reports, Hardoi farmer Ramshankar Kushwaha has been growing peas for a long time using traditional irrigation methods. However, he discovered that the Horticulture Department provides subsidies for a specific technique called sprinklers. He applied for it and installed sprinklers in his fields with a 90 percent subsidy. This enabled him to start farming with this technique and reap its benefits.
Farmers mention that this technique has also boosted their income. The cost of pea cultivation is around 40 to 50 thousand rupees, allowing them to earn up to two to three lakh rupees. Farmers don't need to take any special precautions to use sprinkler technology for farming, except for regular maintenance of the sprinkler pipes.
Sprinkler technology is an advanced tool and technique for irrigation. Irrigation through this technique mimics natural rainfall. It is the most suitable method for areas with sandy soil. Irrigating with this method helps maintain the appropriate moisture level in the soil, resulting in better crop growth, yield, and quality. Farmers benefit from sprinkler machines in various ways, including water conservation, time savings, and cost reduction.
