This initiative by the Haryana government aims at soil conservation and crop diversification. Approximately 31.25 lakh acres of land in Haryana are used for rice cultivation, leading to excessive groundwater depletion and decreasing soil fertility. To address this issue, the government has initiated a natural green revolution, taking several important steps to assist in soil conservation and promote crop diversification.

Crop Diversification in Water-Scare Areas:

Under this scheme, the objective is to promote crop diversification in areas facing water scarcity. This plan is being implemented in Ambala, Fatehabad, Hisar, Jind, Karnal, Kaithal, Kurukshetra, Panipat, Rohtak, Sonipat, Sirsa, and Yamunanagar, where difficulties in rice cultivation have increased due to water scarcity. More than 1.25 lakh acres of land in these areas are being used for rice cultivation.
