Prime Minister's Farmer Scheme: Recovery of installments from 81,000 ineligible farmers in this state, find out the complete details. The Bihar government has directed government banks to expedite the process of recovering money from approximately 81,000 ineligible farmers who received funds under the Prime Minister Kisan Samman Nidhi Yojana. These farmers have been deemed ineligible due to reasons such as paying income tax to the central government. The Prime Minister Kisan Samman Nidhi Yojana is financially supported by the Indian government under this central scheme. Under this scheme, all landholding farmer families are provided financial assistance in three equal installments of Rs. 6,000 per year, starting from December 1, 2018.

State governments identify eligible farmer families according to the scheme's guidelines, and the amount is directly transferred to the bank accounts of eligible beneficiaries. The directive stated that in the recent meeting of the State Level Bankers Committee, all senior officers of banks were instructed to initiate the process of recovering funds from ineligible farmers as a top priority. Banks were also advised to send notices to ineligible farmers if necessary and to block transactions from the bank accounts of ineligible farmers.

Some banks have already recovered Rs. 10.31 crores from ineligible beneficiaries. Northern Bihar Gramin Bank and South Bihar Gramin Bank have also initiated the recovery process from ineligible beneficiaries. The Director explained, "The beneficiaries of this scheme, who have been found ineligible by the government due to income tax payments or other reasons, will now have to return the funds received to the government." He further added, "The central government initiated this scheme to provide minimum income support to small and marginal farmers in the country, but thousands of ineligible farmers have also received funds under the scheme." The aim of this scheme is to meet the financial needs of small and marginal farmers during proper crop management and adequate production during each crop cycle. It not only saves them from falling into the clutches of moneylenders to meet such expenses but also ensures their continuity in agricultural activities.
