This is good news for the farmers of Madhya Pradesh. The state government is planning to provide a subsidy to farmers for purchasing irrigation pumps. The state's energy department has prepared a proposal for this, and the amount for purchasing the pump has been fixed at 3 lakh rupees. Out of this, the state government will provide a subsidy of 1.5 lakh rupees. This means that farmers will only need to pay half the cost of the pump from their own pockets.
The subsidy provided for purchasing the pump will not have any restrictions based on APL or BPL categories. The special thing is that even prosperous farmers will be able to benefit from this. According to sources, Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chauhan may announce this scheme next month. The proposal has been given the green light from the Chief Minister's Office.
It is worth mentioning that there are more than one crore farmers in Madhya Pradesh. This number is based on the bank accounts of farmers collected by the Department of Agriculture and Farmer Welfare. In the first phase of the scheme, preparations are being made to provide a 50% subsidy to 50,000 farmers for purchasing pumps. The plan is to increase this number later.
Farmers will receive 1.20 lakh rupees from the energy department to purchase agricultural pumps, and 30,000 rupees will be provided by the respective electricity distribution companies in the area. In this way, a total of 1.50 lakh rupees will be given by the government as a subsidy.
