Know about the Agriculture Sakhi Training Program initiated jointly by two ministries

A training program called 'Krishi Sakhi' has been launched to promote organic farming. It is a joint initiative of the Ministry of Rural Development and the Ministry of Agriculture and Farmer Welfare. The goal of this initiative, undertaken by the ministries, is to train 50,000 Krishi Sakhis (agricultural friends) so that they can be certified in a phased manner by the National Organic and Natural Farming Center under the jurisdiction of the Ministry of Agriculture.

This program is initiated under the Deendayal Antyodaya Yojana - National Rural Livelihood Mission (DAY-NRLM).

According to the Ministry of Rural Development, the Center is the nodal agency for this work. Training modules have been prepared by the NSEEONF (National Steering Committee for Extension and Outreach on Natural Farming), and for the final review, they have been sent to the National Institute of Agricultural Extension Management (MANAGE).

Smriti Sharan, Joint Secretary of Rural Livelihoods, emphasized the importance of transferring technology from laboratories to the grassroots level and highlighted the crucial role played by community resources in this endeavor. She stated that Community Resource Persons (CRPs) can assist small and marginal farmers in increasing their productivity through natural farming.
