The cold wave extends to Punjab, Haryana-Chandigarh-Delhi, south Uttar Pradesh, Rajasthan, West Madhya Pradesh, northeast Madhya Pradesh, Jharkhand, Sub-Himalayan West Bengal & Sikkim, and Bihar, where temperatures range from 6-10°C, contributing to an overall frosty atmosphere. Some areas of Bihar, Gangetic West Bengal, Uttar Pradesh, Jharkhand, Uttarakhand, north Haryana, Rajasthan, and West Madhya Pradesh are observing temperatures below normal by 3-5°C.
Looking ahead, the weather forecast, issues warnings of dense to very dense fog during the night and morning hours in Punjab, Haryana, Chandigarh, and Uttar Pradesh from the 24th to the 28th of January. Similar foggy conditions are anticipated in isolated places in Delhi during this period. In Bihar, isolated pockets may witness dense to very dense fog from the 24th to the 25th of January, persisting for the subsequent 2-3 days.
Cold Day to Severe Cold Day conditions are expected in many parts of Punjab, Haryana, and Uttar Pradesh on the 24th, extending to some areas on the 25th. Isolated pockets may experience cold day conditions from the 26th to the 28th of January. On the 24th of January, West Rajasthan is likely to face Cold Day to Severe Cold Day conditions, while Uttarakhand, East Rajasthan, and Bihar will encounter isolated pockets of Cold Day conditions during this period.
With winter showing no signs of easing, residents are advised to prepare for the brisk weather and be cautious of reduced visibility due to dense fog.
