This year, North India is experiencing extreme heat. Even the hill states, known for their cool climate, are facing severe heat at this time. In many districts of Himachal Pradesh, temperatures have surged past 40 degrees Celsius. The Meteorological Department reported that Himachal Pradesh was under a heatwave on June 18, with temperatures recorded four to eight degrees above normal in most areas.

The IMD issued a heatwave and storm warning today, June 19, for ten districts of Himachal Pradesh weather, excluding a few locations. Furthermore, on June 20, thunderstorms and lightning are forecasted in Una, Bilaspur, Hamirpur, Kangra, Kullu, Mandi, Shimla, and a few other districts.

According to the Meteorological Department, the heatwave is expected to continue in some areas for the next two days, after which it is expected to subside. Rainfall is also expected in some areas from June 20 to 24 in the higher hills and from June 19 to 21 in the middle hills.

Una district in Himachal Pradesh recorded extreme heat, with a maximum temperature of 43.5 degrees Celsius, making it the hottest place in the state. This was followed by Dhaula Kuan at 42.2 degrees Celsius, Bilaspur at 42 degrees Celsius, and Hamirpur at 41.2 degrees Celsius. The IMD reported that Sirmaur, Shimla, Kangra, Kullu, Solan, and Mandi are also under a heatwave. There has been a slight increase in the minimum temperature in some districts of Himachal Pradesh.
