The Indian Meteorological Department IMD has issued a weather forecast indicating widespread to widespread light to moderate rainfall and snowfall, with isolated thunderstorms and lightning expected over several regions in northern India from March 13th to 14th, 2024. According to IMD latest bulletin, the regions likely to experience these weather conditions include Jammu-Kashmir, Ladakh, Gilgit, Baltistan, Muzaffarabad, Himachal Pradesh, and Uttarakhand. However, the IMD anticipates a reduction in both distribution and intensity of rainfall and snowfall after the 14th of March.

Furthermore, light rainfall in Punjab, north Haryana, Chandigarh, Northwest Uttar Pradesh, and West Rajasthan on March 13th, 2024. Yesterday, isolated rainfall/snowfall was reported over Jammu-Kashmir-Ladakh-Gilgit-Baltistan-Muzaffarabad and Himachal Pradesh between 0830 hours IST to 1730 hours IST. In addition to the regions, IMD predicts isolated to scattered light rainfall over Sub-Himalayan West Bengal & Sikkim from March 12th to 14th, Gangetic West Bengal from March 13th to 17th, Odisha from March 14th to 17th, Jharkhand, East Madhya Pradesh, Vidarbha, and Chhattisgarh on March 16th & 17th, and West Madhya Pradesh on March 17th, 2024.

For the northeastern states, isolated to scattered light to moderate rainfall and snowfall are expected over Arunachal Pradesh for the next seven days. Similarly, isolated light rainfall is likely over Assam & Meghalaya and Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram & Tripura during March 13th to 15th, 2024. However, a different weather pattern is expected over certain southern states. Hot and humid weather update today, are likely to prevail over Kerala & Mahe for the next two days and over Rayalaseema and Tamil Nadu, Puducherry & Karaikal for the next three days.

The IMD advises residents and authorities in the mentioned regions to stay updated with further weather forecasts and take necessary precautions as per local advisories to mitigate any potential impacts of the forecasted weather conditions.
