The Madhya Pradesh government has announced that soybean procurement will commence on October 25, 2024, and continue until December 31, 2024. Following government directives, the Chief Secretary held a meeting with farmers to discuss the Minimum Support Price (MSP) procurement process and issued several important guidelines.
Under the direction of Chief Minister Mohan Yadav, Chief Secretary Veera Rana conducted a meeting to outline the soybean MSP procurement process. It was decided that soybean procurement will take place from October 25 to December 31, 2024. Farmers will be able to register on the portal from September 25 to October 15, 2024.
Chief Secretary Rana has instructed the Revenue Department to complete the girdawari (land record survey) to improve the soybean procurement process. Additionally, farmers are directed to register on the e-procurement portal between September 25 and October 15, 2024.
For the first time in Madhya Pradesh, soybean will be procured at the MSP, managed by the central government agency Nafed and the state cooperative marketing federation (Markfed). Procurement centers will be established in all districts, and farmers will register through the e-procurement portal. The procurement will span 90 days. This year, approximately 58 lakh hectares have been planted with soybean, with the largest area in Malwa region. The procurement target is yet to be set, with Nafed handling some locations and Markfed managing others under a decentralized system. Cooperative societies will serve as procurement centers, and storage arrangements will be made. Soybean will only be purchased from registered farmers, and payments will be made directly to their accounts within three days.
