Let's delve into the current scenario of potato prices across Uttar Pradesh and Madhya Pradesh. At present, the average wholesale rates for native varieties of potatoes range from ₹1000 to ₹2100 per quintal. Similarly, local potato varieties are fetching rates ranging from ₹1800 to ₹3500 per quintal.
28th April saw a notable influx of potatoes in the markets of Uttar Pradesh. Kanpur witnessed the highest arrival of native potato varieties, with approximately 1500 quintals recorded. Market rates in Kanpur ranged from ₹1700 to ₹1880 per quintal. Agra, around 1450 quintals of potatoes were available in the market. The prevailing rates in Agra stood at ₹1500 to ₹1800 per quintal.
The potato market in Firozabad district's Sirsaganj recorded the lowest rates, with prices ranging from ₹500 to ₹700 per quintal. Around 156 quintals of potatoes were registered for sale.
Madhya Pradesh, the potato market in Shajapur reported relatively cheaper rates, with prices ranging from ₹1000 to ₹1150 per quintal. Approximately 10 quintals of potatoes were recorded in the market. On 28th April, Indore witnessed the highest arrival of local potato varieties, with approximately 52 quintals available in the market. Prices in Indore ranged from ₹1590 to ₹2250 per quintal. These fluctuations in potato prices reflect the dynamic nature of agricultural markets, with factors like supply, demand, and local conditions playing pivotal roles in determining rates.
