Above, tomatoes; below, potatoes. Yes, this has become a reality through a new method. Scientists have achieved success with this technique, claiming that farmers can potentially earn more profits by adopting it. In this method, both tomatoes and potatoes can be grown on the same plant. In fact, the Agricultural Development Trust's Agricultural Science Center in Baramati, Maharashtra, has pioneered this technique, referred to as "Pamato." Additionally, scientists have also succeeded in growing pumpkins on eggplant plants. Let's delve into more details.

At present, live demonstrations of this innovative technique are being showcased by the Baramati Agricultural Development Trust. This technique is known as grafting technology and is captivating farmers. What makes it unique is the use of artificial intelligence (AI) technology for achieving this success.

What is this Technology:

According to experts, in Baramati, various crops are worked upon using grafting technology. In this technique, just as tomatoes are grown on potato plants, tomatoes are grafted onto eggplant plants. This technology has been developed here for several crops. The notable aspect is that farmers can utilize this technique even in the off-season. Scientists claim that farmers will benefit significantly from this technology, as they won't need different locations or plots for cultivating two different crops.

Crop Ready in 60 Days:

At the Agricultural Science Center in Baramati, this technique is being implemented for cultivation. Scientists have grafted tomatoes onto potato plants using grafting. When the stems of both potatoes and tomatoes started to emerge, equal attention was given to their fertilization and watering. Within 45 to 60 days, the yield of potatoes and tomatoes began. This not only ensures a yield for farmers but also promises profits. With this approach, farmers can potentially earn profits of up to one and a half lakh rupees from both crops in six months.
