Peas are in danger of attack of diseases here are tips to protect crop kisan news

Winter has cast its spell, with temperatures steadily dropping each day. Some regions in Uttar Pradesh, Punjab, Rajasthan, and Madhya Pradesh are even witnessing frost. In such circumstances, farmers are faced with the challenge of safeguarding their crops. Pea crops are particularly susceptible during this season, and the recent temperature drop has increased the risk of diseases affecting pea cultivation. Let's explore the necessary steps farmers can take to protect their pea crops.

Expert Insights on Challenging Weather:

According to agricultural experts, the ongoing cold waves, coupled with frost, pose a significant threat to pea crops. The decreasing temperature negatively impacts pea crop growth, leading to a reduction in yield. In light of this, farmers are advised to take special care of their crops. The cold weather increases the risk of powdery mildew disease in pea crops. Symptoms of powdery mildew include browning and drying of leaves, particularly along the edges.

Application of Fungicides: To counter the threat of powdery mildew disease, farmers should use a fungicidal solution. A mixture of Maneb and Mancozeb fungicides, prepared by dissolving 2.5 grams of each in one liter of water, should be sprayed on the crops. Applying this solution every 10 to 15 days proves effective in preventing the disease. Additionally, ensuring adequate moisture in the crops is crucial to mitigate the impact of cold weather.

Another Potential Risk: Root Rot DiseaseAs temperatures drop, there is an increased risk of root rot disease, also known as waterlogging disease, affecting pea crops. This disease can cause significant damage to the crops. Preventive measures are essential to ensure a healthy and abundant harvest.

Beneficial Medications: In case of disease signs in pea crops, farmers should opt for biological control methods. A solution of 10 grams of Trichoderma per liter of water can be applied to combat root rot disease. If the disease is spreading rapidly, using fungicides like Roko M or Carbendazim, dissolved in 2 grams per liter of water, for soil treatment proves effective in reducing the disease's impact. By following these essential steps, farmers can effectively protect their pea crops from potential winter-related risks and ensure a successful harvest.
