Paddy procurement in UP from October 1st

Paddy farmers in Uttar Pradesh have some great news. The state's Food and Civil Supplies Department will begin procuring paddy, wheat, and other crops from farmers through purchase centers starting October 1st. Approximately 4,000 purchase centers have been established across UP by the department and other agencies. In eastern Uttar Pradesh, the paddy procurement will start on November 1st. Food Commissioner Saurabh Babu mentioned that the procurement target for this year is yet to be determined.

MSP Set at ₹2,300 per Quintal for Common Paddy:

According to Food Commissioner Saurabh Babu, the Minimum Support Price (MSP) for the Kharif marketing year 2024-25 has been set by the Government of India at ₹2,300 per quintal for common paddy and ₹2,320 per quintal for Grade-A paddy. Preparations for the upcoming paddy procurement have been scheduled.

Coarse Grains Will Also Be Procured:

The Food Commissioner also stated that this year, coarse grains such as bajra, maize, and jowar will be procured under the category of millets (Shri Anna). The Government of India has set the MSP for bajra at ₹2,625 per quintal, jowar at ₹3,371 per quintal, and maize at ₹2,225 per quintal for the 2024-25 marketing year. Appointment orders under the single-stage transportation system have been issued in 842 blocks.

Farmers Must Register Online:

Saurabh Babu emphasized that farmers who wish to sell their paddy at the Minimum Support Price must first register online on the official website of the Food and Civil Supplies Department, [https://fcs.up.gov.in/](https://fcs.up.gov.in/). Farmers need to provide their Aadhaar card number, details of their land, and the area of paddy or other crops (in hectares).

4,000 Purchase Centers Established in UP: Satish Sharma, the state's Minister of Food and Civil Supplies, has directed that all preparations for paddy procurement be completed on time. To facilitate this, around 4,000 purchase centers have been established across all blocks in the state by the department and other agencies. The minister also emphasized that farmers should receive all necessary facilities at these centers. The paddy purchased from farmers will be supplied to around 814 paddy mills located in Uttar Pradesh.
