Delhi Coldest Day Uttar Pradesh Winter Looks like Shimla:

Delhiites, braving the coldest night of the season, faced a temperature of 3.6°C, triggering an alert in the city. The dense fog and severe cold wave led to the cancellation of flights and delays in railway schedules. The air quality in Delhi worsened due to high pollution levels, reflecting in the Air Quality Index (AQI). The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued an alert for the capital city. Uttar Pradesh mirrors a similar scenario, with dense fog exacerbating existing AQI concerns. Cities like Meerut, Varanasi, Lucknow, Gorakhpur, and Muzaffarnagar witnessed a sudden dip in temperatures, comparable to the chilly climate of Shimla.

Moderate fog and later dry conditions with mainly clear skies are predicted.

Dense fog is reported in portions of Haryana & Chandigarh, Jammu Division, West Rajasthan, Delhi, West Madhya Pradesh, and East Uttar Pradesh. Additionally, moderate fog is expected in isolated pockets of Assam and Jharkhand. While there is a possibility of light to moderate rainfall in isolated areas of East Madhya Pradesh and Odisha, the rest of the country is likely to experience mainly dry weather. A cyclonic circulation over South Bangladesh & its vicinity persists, and a fresh feeble Western Disturbance is anticipated to impact the Western Himalayan Region from January 16, 2024.

As the region grapples with the winter onslaught, citizens are advised to stay informed about the changing weather conditions and take necessary precautions to ensure their safety and well-being.
