More than 4 lakh hectares of land has been brought under organic farming

In 8 states, more than 400,000 hectares of land have been brought under natural farming, with Madhya Pradesh ranking second. Agriculture Minister Narendra Singh Tomar stated in Parliament on Tuesday that approximately 409,000 hectares of land have been brought under natural farming in eight states, with Andhra Pradesh leading the way. The eight states are Andhra Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Kerala, Odisha, Himachal Pradesh, Jharkhand, and Tamil Nadu. The minister provided this information in a written response in the Lok Sabha.

It should be noted that under the Pramparagat Krishi Vikas Yojana (Traditional Agriculture Development Scheme), a sub-scheme known as Bharatiya Prakritik Krishi Paddhati (BPDP) has been promoting natural farming since the 2019-20 period. Tomar mentioned, "So far, 409,000 hectares of land have been brought under natural farming in these 8 states." He further revealed that in Andhra Pradesh, nearly 100,000 hectares, in Madhya Pradesh, 99,000 hectares, in Chhattisgarh, 85,000 hectares, in Kerala, 84,000 hectares, in Odisha, 24,000 hectares, in Himachal Pradesh, 12,000 hectares, in Jharkhand, 3,400 hectares, and in Tamil Nadu, 2,000 hectares of land have been brought under natural farming.
