On May 21 and 22, various areas in Kerala are likely to experience extremely heavy rainfall. Additionally, a heavy rainfall alert has been issued for Tamil Nadu, Puducherry, and Karaikal on May 21. Light to moderate rain is expected in these states from May 21 to 25. During this period, the IMD warns of strong winds and has issued a red alert for these regions.
From May 21 to 25, light to moderate rain is anticipated in the coastal areas of Lakshadweep, Telangana, Karnataka, and Odisha. Heavy rainfall is also expected in parts of the Andaman and Nicobar Islands from May 21 to 24.
Impact of Heavy Rainfall in Kerala and Tamil Nadu: Yesterday, heavy rainfall in Kerala and Tamil Nadu led to waterlogging in several areas, with streets and homes inundated. Strong winds caused trees to fall on roads, particularly affecting places like Tiruchirappalli, Vellore, and Coimbatore in Tamil Nadu, as well as Kochi, Thiruvananthapuram, and Kozhikode in Kerala.
