The government is making every possible effort at the central and state levels to raise awareness about millets, which are coarse grains. The government is consistently educating people about incorporating millets into their diets. Various initiatives are being run across the country to help people adopt a healthier lifestyle. People are being informed about the benefits of grains such as jowar, bajra, etc. At the state level, the government is distributing free mini-kits of millet seeds to farmers, which will increase millet production. In line with this, Haryana has initiated the Millets Agri and Rising Haryana Expo. The state's Minister of Agriculture and Animal Husbandry, J.P. Dalal, inaugurated it on Friday, April 7.

During the three-day expo, there will be brainstorming sessions on cutting-edge agricultural technologies for farmers. On this occasion, Prime Minister Narendra Modi was thanked for accepting the invitation for the International Year of Millets 2023. Addressing organizations such as the Kisan and Kheti Virasat Mission during the inauguration of the expo, Minister of Agriculture and Animal Husbandry J.P. Dalal called for collective efforts to promote the development of millets in India. He said, "All millet farmers and NGOs should come under one roof so that the government can provide them with all possible assistance, leading to the unprecedented growth of millets in India."

Umesh Dutt, Executive Director of the Kheti Virasat Mission actively contributing to the expo, stated that a seminar on 'Engineering Contributions to Bajra Production and Its Value Addition' would also be organized. Various agricultural machinery training and testing institutions, Indian Agricultural Research Institutes, and subject export organizations will participate in it.

Cooking Competition Organized:  As part of the expo, the Millets Handicraft Organic Farming Triennial will host the Semilets Cooking Competition. Chefs from the state have been invited to participate. The three-day exhibition will see hundreds of artisans associated with millets from Handicraft Organic Farming Triennial participating. Following this initiative, Haryana is expected to witness an increase in millet production and increased awareness among the people regarding millets.
