Delhi witnessed a historic temperature surge yesterday, with Mungeshpur recording nearly 52.9 degrees Celsius, making it the hottest day of May. According to the Meteorological Department, today, May 30, the capital is expected to continue experiencing intense heat waves along with strong winds. This extreme weather condition is likely to persist, although light showers are forecasted for tomorrow. However, these showers are not expected to bring significant relief in temperature.

Today's maximum temperature is projected to hover around 45 degrees Celsius, while the minimum is expected to be around 30 degrees Celsius. On average, Delhi's maximum temperature is anticipated to stay between 43 to 45 degrees Celsius, with minimum temperatures ranging from 28 to 30 degrees Celsius during this period. The Meteorological Department is currently verifying the accuracy of their sensors and data.

Unexpected Heat Surge:

Northern India is grappling with severe heat, with several cities experiencing furnace-like conditions. Delhi has shattered all previous temperature records, with Mungeshpur recording an unprecedented 52.9 degrees Celsius on May 29, Wednesday. The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) is currently validating this data. This temperature marks the highest ever recorded in the city.

The IMD expressed that no one anticipated such an extreme heatwave in Delhi, akin to temperatures typically observed in desert regions. As of now, the IMD is scrutinizing the data for confirmation. The intense heat in Delhi surpassed even that of Dubai, making it one of the hottest days in the city's history.
