The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued forecasts predicting a surge in maximum temperatures in several cities over the next five days.

Possibility of Heatwaves in Specific Regions:

According to IMD, there a possibility of heatwaves in different parts of Karnataka, Odisha, and Gangetic West Bengal on April 5th and 6th. Additionally, regions in Jharkhand, coastal Andhra Pradesh, Yanam, Rayalaseema, Telangana, and Vidarbha are expected to experience heatwaves and hot winds during this period.

  1. Expectation of Warm Nights in Certain Areas: Furthermore, it is anticipated that regions of Odisha and interior Karnataka on April 5th and Chhattisgarh on April 6th, along with different parts of the Vidarbha region on April 5th and 6th, will witness warm nights.
  2. Warm and Humid Weather in Southern Regions: From April 5th to 8th, Kerala, Mahe, Tamil Nadu, and Puducherry are likely to experience warm and humid weather conditions. During April 5th to 7th, similar weather patterns are expected in Konkan, Goa, and coastal Karnataka.
  3. Expected Temperature Rise in Northern States: There is a probability of a 2 to 3-degree Celsius increase in temperatures in Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, and Gujarat from April 5th to 8th.
  4. Sudden Surge in Heat Across India: According to the IMD, yesterday (April 4th), several parts of Vidarbha and South India recorded maximum temperatures between 40 to 42 degrees Celsius. Presently, many regions including Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Marathwada, Telangana, Karnataka, Rayalaseema, Southeast Uttar Pradesh, Odisha, Central Maharashtra, coastal Andhra Pradesh, and South Interior Tamil Nadu are experiencing temperatures 3-4 degrees Celsius above normal.

Precautions Advised: The IMD advises residents in these regions to take necessary precautions to combat the rising temperatures and stay hydrated. Additionally, it is recommended to avoid outdoor activities during peak daytime hours to prevent heat-related illnesses.
