Farmers of Bihar should pay attention, government is giving 75 percent subsidy on Makhana farming, know how to apply and avail benefits

The Bihar state government is running various beneficial schemes for farmers to increase their income and agricultural production. However, due to a lack of information, many farmers are not able to take advantage of these schemes. In this regard, khetivyapar.com is providing information about these beneficial schemes to help the farmers. Today, we are informing the farmers of Bihar about the assistance being provided by the Bihar government to encourage the cultivation of makhana (fox nuts).

For promoting makhana farming, the Bihar government's Department of Agriculture and Horticulture is offering a 75% subsidy to farmers. Applications have been invited from Bihar's farmers to receive this subsidy for cultivating makhana. The application process began on September 5th. Through this scheme, farmers can benefit from cultivating makhana and earning a good income. The Makhana Development Scheme has been initiated by the Horticulture Directorate to promote makhana farming. Under this scheme, farmers will receive a subsidy of up to 75% for makhana cultivation. The plan includes providing seeds to farmers for makhana farming. The cost per hectare for sowing high-quality makhana seeds has been fixed at Rs. 97,000.

Farmers will receive a grant of 75% or up to a maximum of Rs. 72,750 per hectare for their cost price under the scheme. Makhana Development Scheme has been launched in 11 districts of Bihar, which include Katihar, Darbhanga, Supaul, Kishanganj, Purnia, Saharsa, Araria, West Champaran, Madhepura, Madhubani, and Sitamarhi. Applications for the scheme can be submitted online from September 5th to September 20th, 2022. Farmers can apply by visiting their nearest Common Service Center or through the Bihar Department of Horticulture's website at horticulture.bihar.gov.in. For more information about the scheme, farmers can contact the Assistant Director of Horticulture in their respective district. It's worth noting that Bihar's makhana has received the GI tag. Thanks to good market rates throughout the year, the demand for makhana remains high. This has also opened up avenues for the export of Bihar's makhana. With the GI tag, Bihar's farmers stand to benefit significantly.
