Maharashtra Atal Bamboo Samruddhi Yojana

The Atal Bamboo Samruddhi Yojana was initiated by the Maharashtra government in 2019. The primary objective of this scheme is to combat global climate change and promote bamboo cultivation in Maharashtra. Initially, the scheme did not provide financial assistance to farmers for the care of bamboo plants. However, in 2024, Finance and Deputy Chief Minister Mr. Ajit Pawar presented a supplementary budget in the assembly, revising the benefits of this scheme. To encourage more bamboo cultivation and increase farmers' income, the Maharashtra government has expanded the benefits of the Atal Bamboo Samruddhi Yojana. This scheme is also known as the "Atal Bamboo Prosperity Scheme.

Subsidy Details under Atal Bamboo Samruddhi Yojana:

Farmers will be provided with a subsidy for the plantation and maintenance of bamboo. Farmers can plant a total of 1200 bamboo plants on 2 hectares of land. Farmers will need to spend ₹350 per plant over a period of 3 years. Out of ₹350 per plant, farmers will be provided with a 50% subsidy, which is ₹175 per plant. The subsidy will be given as ₹90 per plant in the first year, ₹50 in the second year, and ₹35 in the third year. A farmer can plant a maximum of 1200 bamboo plants on 2 hectares of land, which is 600 plants per hectare. The subsidy of ₹175 per plant will be provided as follows: ₹90 in the first year, ₹50 in the second year, and ₹35 in the third year.

Eligible Bamboo Species for Subsidy:

Under the Atal Bamboo Samruddhi Yojana, the Maharashtra government will cultivate bamboo on more than 10,000 acres of private land. Farmers will be provided with a subsidy for the plantation and maintenance of bamboo under this scheme. Farmers can also earn money by selling the grown bamboo plants to wood traders. It is mandatory to plant bamboo plants at a distance of 5 x 4 meters from each other. The following bamboo species are eligible for subsidy under the Atal Bamboo Samruddhi Yojana: Dendrocalamus Strictus, Bambusa Balcooa, Dendrocalamus Brandisii, Bambusa Nutan, Dendrocalamus Asper, Bambusa Tulda, Oxytenanthera Stocksii, Farmers can also earn money by selling the grown bamboo plants.

Benefits of Atal Bamboo Samruddhi Yojana:

Farmers will be provided with a subsidy for the plantation and maintenance of bamboo. Farmers will need to spend ₹350 per plant over a period of 3 years. Out of ₹350 per plant, farmers will be provided with a 50% subsidy, which is ₹175 per plant. The subsidy will be given as ₹90 per plant in the first year, ₹50 in the second year, and ₹35 in the third year. 

Eligibility for Atal Bamboo Samruddhi Yojana: Only farmers from Maharashtra are eligible to apply for the subsidy under the Atal Bamboo Samruddhi Yojana. Farmers must have a minimum of 2 hectares of agricultural land.

Required Documents for Atal Bamboo Samruddhi Yojana:

  • Aadhaar Card
  • Voter ID
  • Copy of Agricultural Land Sale Deed / Ownership Agreement
  • 7/12 Extract
  • The case of tenant farmers, Rental Agreement or Lease Agreement
  • Bank Account Details
  • Passport Size Photograph
  • The case of Self-Help Groups (SHGs), Cooperative Societies, and NGOs, Organization Registration Forms / License will be required

How to Apply: Farmers of Maharashtra can apply for the subsidy under the Atal Bamboo Samruddhi Yojana for bamboo cultivation through the following two ways:

Online Application Process:

  • Visit the portal https://intranet.mahaforest.gov.in/forestportal/index.php?option=bambooapp and select the Atal Bamboo Samruddhi Yojana.
  • Fill in the personal details, land details, bamboo species details, and bank account details in the online application form.
  • Upload the required documents.
  • Carefully preview the filled application form and check all the details.
  • Click the submit button to submit the Atal Bamboo Samruddhi Yojana application form.
  • The submitted application form will be verified by forest officials.
  • Selected farmers will receive an annual subsidy for the maintenance of bamboo saplings under the Atal Bamboo Samruddhi Yojana of the Maharashtra Government.
  • The online application form is available until 31st October 2024.

Offline Application Process:

  • The offline application form for the Atal Bamboo Samruddhi Yojana is available free of cost at the District Office of the Maharashtra Bamboo Development Board.
  • Carefully fill in the details in the application form.
  • Attach all the required documents with the application form.
  • Submit the Atal Bamboo Samruddhi Yojana application form along with all the documents at the same District Office of the Bamboo Development Board.
  • Concerned officials will verify the submitted application form and documents.
  • Ground verification of the bamboo plantation site will also be done by the officials.
  • Eligible farmers can apply for this scheme on or before 31-10-2024.
