The Malwa district in Madhya Pradesh is renowned for a special fruit known as "Kabita." This fruit, prized for its Ayurvedic properties, has yielded well this season. Farmers have harvested Kabita and are presently engaged in the drying process. Following the harvest in the plains, Kabita is currently undergoing drying. Farmers are optimistic about better earnings from Kabita this year. Several Ayurvedic medicines are derived from this fruit.

Priced up to Rs. 100 per Kilo:

Farmers in and around the Agar Malwa district cultivate Kabita on a large scale. Apart from Malwa, this fruit is also cultivated in Maharashtra. Regarding its price, the wholesale rate presently exceeds Rs. 100 per kilo. However, its price further escalates upon reaching the retail market. Farmers note a bumper crop of Kabita this year, indicating promising returns.

The Essence Resides Within the Fruit:

After harvesting Kabita from the trees, it undergoes sun-drying. While the outer skin of this fruit is tough, the inner part is relatively soft, colloquially referred to as gir. Laborers extract the gir from the fruit, clean it, and then dry it in the sun. Subsequently, it is sold in markets.

Beneficial for Health:

Kabita is scarce across the country but abundant in Malwa. It serves as a primary ingredient in medicinal drugs. Consumption of Kabita aids in alleviating conditions like heart disease and diabetes, and it is valued for its digestive benefits. Additionally, it is utilized in making chutneys and pickles. Large heaps of Kabita can currently be observed in the plains of the Malwa region and Agar Malwa.
