In Himachal Pradesh, farmers will receive a loan of ₹925 crore for the improvement of basic agricultural infrastructure through the Agriculture Basic Infrastructure Fund Scheme. This loan will support the establishment of cold storage facilities, processing units, warehouses, and packaging units. Under the scheme, farmers can avail loans of up to ₹2 crore at a nominal interest rate of 6%. To increase awareness about the scheme among farmers, bank representatives, and officials from relevant departments, a brainstorming session was organized on Saturday. The program was chaired by the Agriculture Minister, Chandra Kumar. Agriculture Secretary C. Palarasu shed light on the multi-faceted capabilities of the scheme, emphasizing its provision for the establishment of new units and the rejuvenation of existing units. This scheme encompasses various facilities, including warehouses, silos, cold chains, logistics, packing houses, e-marketing platforms, grading and sorting units, primary processing units, and fruit processing units.
