MD Weather Alert: IMD Predicts Heavy Rain in West Rajasthan, Assam, Kerala & More
Recent Heavy Rainfall

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a weather update for August 5, predicting heavy to very heavy rainfall in various regions. The affected areas include West Rajasthan, Sub-Himalayan West Bengal, Sikkim, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram, Tripura, Assam, Meghalaya, Madhya Maharashtra, and Gujarat. Additionally, heavy rainfall is expected in Jammu & Kashmir, Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand, East Uttar Pradesh, East Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Arunachal Pradesh, Konkan, Goa, Tamil Nadu, Puducherry, and Kerala.

Recent Heavy Rainfall:

On August 4, parts of Madhya Maharashtra and Madhya Pradesh recorded extremely heavy rainfall, contributing to the ongoing monsoon activity in these areas.

High Winds and Severe Weather Warnings: Today, strong winds with speeds between 35 kmph and 45 kmph, and gusts reaching up to 55 kmph, are forecasted for the southern parts of the northeast Arabian Sea, various sections of the east-central and west-central Arabian Sea, along the coasts of south Gujarat and north Maharashtra, and the Gulf of Mannar. Furthermore, central Arabian Sea and southwest Arabian Sea regions, including the coasts of Somalia, Yemen, and Oman, may experience winds reaching speeds of 45 kmph to 55 kmph, with gusts up to 65 kmph. Fishermen are advised to avoid these areas due to hazardous weather conditions.

Thunderstorm and Lightning Alert: The IMD has also issued a thunderstorm and lightning warning for Bihar, Jharkhand, Rajasthan, Uttar Pradesh, and Madhya Pradesh.

Monsoon Trough: The monsoon trough at mean sea level currently passes through Jaisalmer, Ajmer, the center of the depression over northeast Rajasthan and northwest Madhya Pradesh, Satna, Balasore, and then southeastwards to the east-central Bay of Bengal.
