The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a severe weather warning for various regions across the country today, May 7th. They have predicted the likelihood of lightning strikes and fast winds (at speeds of 50-60 kilometers per hour), urging residents to exercise caution during this time.

West Bengal, particularly along the Ganges, winds of up to 70 kilometers per hour are anticipated, accompanied by lightning and winds ranging from 40-50 kilometers per hour. Some parts of Eastern Madhya Pradesh, Vidarbha, and Jharkhand are expected to experience light showers, while Southern Karnataka will witness lightning and winds of 40-50 kilometers per hour.

Eastern Uttar Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Sub-Himalayan West Bengal, Sikkim, Bihar, Odisha, Assam, Meghalaya, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram, Tripura, Coastal Andhra Pradesh, Yanam, Rayalaseema, and Telangana are likely to experience rapid winds of 30-40 kilometers per hour.

Changing Weather Patterns Across Different Regions

Various regions of Arunachal Pradesh may witness lightning strikes, while Maharashtra, Kerala, Coastal Karnataka, and Northern Interior Karnataka are expected to have normal weather conditions. Additionally, parts of Eastern Uttar Pradesh may experience dusty winds, while heavy rainfall is forecasted for certain areas of West Bengal, Odisha, Assam, and Meghalaya. Furthermore, warm and humid weather is expected in Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram, Tripura, Tamil Nadu, Puducherry, Karaikal, Coastal Andhra Pradesh, Yanam, Telangana, and Southern Interior Karnataka.

Heatwave Alert in These States:

States like Western Rajasthan, Gujarat, different parts of Tamil Nadu, Puducherry, Karaikal, and Interior Karnataka are on alert for potential heatwaves. Along the coastal areas of Andhra Pradesh and Southern Odisha, winds ranging from 40 to 45 kilometers per hour, possibly increasing up to 55 kilometers per hour, are expected. Fishermen are cautioned against venturing into these areas.

With such diverse weather today, conditions prevailing across the nation, citizens are advised to stay updated on local forecasts and adhere to necessary precautions.
