The Indian Meteorological Department has issued a weather warning for June 8, indicating significant rainfall and storm activity across various parts of the country.
The weather department predicts that isolated areas in Goa, Madhya Maharashtra, Kerala, Mahe, Coastal Karnataka, and North Interior Karnataka are expected to experience heavy to very heavy rainfall today. Additionally, heavy rain is also expected in Sub-Himalayan West Bengal and Sikkim, Assam and Meghalaya, and various regions of Marathwada. Coastal areas in these regions are likely to face strong thunderstorms. The northern Andaman Sea coast may experience winds ranging from 35 kmph to 45 kmph, potentially reaching up to 55 kmph.
The weather department has forecasted thunderstorms with lightning, hail, and squalls reaching speeds of 50-60 kmph in isolated areas of Western Madhya Pradesh. West Rajasthan, East Uttar Pradesh, and Vidarbha regions may face storms with lightning and gusty winds of 40-50 kmph, along with dust storms. Other areas, including Himachal Pradesh, Punjab, Haryana, Chandigarh, Delhi, East Rajasthan, Chhattisgarh, Sub-Himalayan West Bengal and Sikkim, Odisha, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram and Tripura, and Gujarat, may experience lightning with gusty winds of 30-40 kmph.
Gulf of Mannar: The Gulf of Mannar is likely to see squally weather with wind speeds of 45 kmph to 55 kmph, gusting up to 65 kmph.
Somalia Coast and Arabian Sea: The southwest and adjoining west-central Arabian Sea, including the coast of Somalia, is expected to experience squally winds of 45 kmph to 55 kmph, potentially gusting up to 65 kmph.
