In the forthcoming week, northwest India is poised for a meteorological spectacle as three consecutive Western Disturbances are set to influence the region. From January 30th to February 5th, a series of weather events will unfold, bringing diverse conditions that demand attention and preparation. Under the influence of these Western Disturbances, widespread rainfall and snowfall are expected over Jammu, Kashmir, Ladakh, Gilgit, Baltistan, Muzaffarabad, Himachal Pradesh, and Uttarakhand. Notably, isolated heavy precipitation is forecasted for specific areas, including Kashmir on January 30th and 31st, Delhi NCR on 31st strong possibility of drizzle rain in many areas, Himachal Pradesh on January 31st and February 1st, Uttarakhand on January 31st, and Arunachal Pradesh on February 2nd, 2024. Adjacent regions such as Punjab, Chandigarh, Haryana, and Uttar Pradesh are also likely to experience light to moderate isolated to scattered rainfall on January 31st and February 1st, 2024. Sub-Himalayan West Bengal and Sikkim could encounter an isolated hailstorm on January 31st and February 2nd, 2024. 

Relief from Cold Temperatures Expected in North to Central India:

Alongside precipitation concerns, dense fog conditions are anticipated in specific parts of Uttar Pradesh and Bihar during the morning hours on January 31st and February 1st, 2024. Isolated pockets of dense fog are also expected in north Rajasthan on January 31st, 2024. Additionally, Cold Day to Severe Cold Day conditions are likely to persist in isolated pockets of East Uttar Pradesh and Bihar on January 30th and 31st, 2024.
The minimum temperature forecast reveals a rise of 2-4°C in minimum temperatures across many parts of Northwest and Central India over the next three days. Similarly, East India is expected to witness a 2-3°C rise in minimum temperatures within the next 24 hours, with no significant change thereafter. Fortunately, no Cold wave conditions are predicted over most parts of the country during the next 5 days.
