IMD Predicts Heavy Rainfall in These States Over the Next 5 Days

According to the India Meteorological Department (IMD), a trough is extending off the Maharashtra-Kerala coasts at sea level today. Additionally, a cyclonic circulation is present over the northeast Arabian Sea off the coasts of Gujarat and northern Maharashtra at lower and middle tropospheric levels. Another trough extends from this cyclonic circulation to northern Bihar at lower tropospheric levels. As a result of these weather systems, light to moderate rainfall accompanied by thunderstorms, lightning, and gusty winds (40-50 kmph) is likely over Konkan & Goa, Madhya Maharashtra weather, Marathwada, Karnataka, Kerala & Mahe, Lakshadweep, Gujarat, Madhya Pradesh, Vidarbha, and Chhattisgarh. Additionally, scattered to fairly widespread light to moderate rainfall is expected over Coastal Andhra Pradesh & Yanam, Rayalaseema, Telangana, Tamil Nadu, Puducherry, and Karaikal over the next five days.

Heavy Rainfall Likely in These States:

According to the IMD, heavy to very heavy rainfall is likely over Konkan & Goa, and the Ghat areas of Madhya Maharashtra and Karnataka over the next five days. Specific regions will experience heavy rainfall on particular dates: Coastal Karnataka, South Interior Karnataka, Kerala, Mahe, and Tamil Nadu on June 25th and 26th; Gujarat region, Saurashtra, and Kutch on June 25th. The Gujarat region will continue to see heavy rainfall from June 26th to 29th, while Kerala, Mahe, Coastal Karnataka, and South Interior Karnataka will experience it on June 27th and 28th. North Interior Karnataka is expected to have heavy rainfall from June 25th to 28th, and Coastal Andhra Pradesh from June 25th to 27th.

Heavy Rainfall in These Areas:

Addition, isolated heavy rainfall is expected in West Madhya Pradesh and Vidarbha from June 27th to 29th, East Madhya Pradesh from June 25th to 29th, and Chhattisgarh from June 26th to 29th. 

Significant Rainfall Recorded Yesterday: The IMD recorded notable rainfall in various regions yesterday. Kerala & Mahe reported 4 cm in Kottayam, 3 cm each in Kochi and Alapuzha, and 2 cm each in Palakkad, Kannur, and Punalur. In Lakshadweep, Minicoy received 3 cm of rainfall. Assam and Meghalaya experienced 4 cm in Barapani and 2 cm in Golaghat. West Madhya Pradesh saw 3 cm in Ratlam and 2 cm in Hoshangabad. The Andaman & Nicobar Islands recorded 2 cm in Mayabandar and 1 cm each in Long Island and Port Blair. Uttar Pradesh reported 2 cm in Prayagraj and 1 cm in Varanasi.
