As northern India contends with scorching heatwaves and oppressive heat, southwestern states are witnessing a strengthening monsoon scenario. According to the Meteorological Department, the monsoon is expected to arrive in the country soon. Let's delve into the states where it will commence:

The Weather Department predicts heavy rainfall in some areas of Tamil Nadu, Puducherry, and Karaikal from May 18th to 22nd. Additionally, Kerala is on alert for heavy rainfall on May 18th and 19th, while South Karnataka is likely to experience heavy rainfall from May 20th to 22nd.

Furthermore, the Weather Department forecasts light rainfall in some parts of Andhra Pradesh Weather, Telangana, Maharashtra, and Goa on May 18th. Coastal areas such as the Comorin region, the Gulf of Mannar, southern Tamil Nadu, Kerala, and Karnataka coasts could experience stormy weather with wind speeds ranging from 40-45 km/h to 55 km/h. Fishermen are advised not to venture into these regions.

It's worth noting that heavy rainfall was witnessed in Kerala and Tamil Nadu yesterday, causing flooding in several rivers and waterfalls in Kanyakumari. 

Anticipated Monsoon Progression: There an expectation of the monsoon progressing further in the South Andaman Sea, parts of the Southeast Bay of Bengal, and the Nicobar Islands. However, full-fledged monsoon activity is anticipated around May 19th, marking a significant shift in weather patterns.
