Heavy Rainfall and Thunderstorms Forecast Across India:

The Meteorological Department has predicted extremely heavy rainfall (> 20 cm) at isolated places in East Madhya Pradesh and Central Maharashtra for today, August 1st. Heavy to very heavy rainfall (≥ 12 cm) is expected at several locations in Konkan and Goa. Isolated heavy to very heavy rainfall is also likely in Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Punjab, Haryana-Chandigarh-Delhi, Uttar Pradesh, West Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Vidarbha, Gangetic West Bengal, Jharkhand, Odisha, Assam & Eastern India

Heavy rainfall (≥ 7 cm) is anticipated at isolated locations in Jammu-Kashmir-Ladakh-Gilgit-Baltistan-Muzaffarabad, Rajasthan, Sub-Himalayan West Bengal & Sikkim, Tamil Nadu, Puducherry & Karaikal, Kerala & Mahe, and North Interior Karnataka.

Thunderstorms Likely in These Areas: Today, August 1st, isolated places in Uttar Pradesh weather, Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Bihar, and Jharkhand are very likely to experience thunderstorms accompanied by lightning. 

Adverse Wind and Sea Conditions: Squally weather with wind speeds reaching 35-45 km/h, gusting to 55 km/h, is expected over the northeast and adjoining northwest regions, most parts of the east-central Arabian Sea, many parts of the west-central Arabian Sea, the northern parts of the southeast and adjoining southwest Arabian Sea, along and off the south Gujarat coast, the north Maharashtra coast, the Gulf of Mannar, off the Sri Lanka coast, many parts of the south Bay of Bengal, and most parts of the central and adjoining southern parts of the north Bay of Bengal.

Additionally, squally weather with wind speeds reaching 45-55 km/h, gusting to 65 km/h, is likely over some parts of the west-central Bay of Bengal.
