The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecast another spell of heavy rainfall in Madhya Pradesh as a low-pressure system has formed over the Bay of Bengal. This system is expected to bring widespread rain across several districts from September 1 to 3. The monsoon is set to become active again today, September 1, with heavy rain warnings issued for 35 districts.

Yesterday, some districts in the state, including Indore, Ujjain, Narmadapuram, Khargone, Sidhi, Dhar, Guna, Chhatarpur, and Balaghat, experienced rain. Ujjain recorded 23 mm of rain, followed by 19 mm in Nowgaon, 5 mm in Khargone and Guna, 3 mm in Khandwa, 2 mm in Narmadapuram and Indore, 1 mm in Sidhi, and 0.2 mm in Dhar.

Heavy Rainfall Alert for Specific Districts

On September 1, the IMD has issued a heavy rainfall alert for the districts of Anuppur, Chhindwara, Balaghat, and Dindori. Additionally, moderate to heavy rain with thunderstorms is expected in Ujjain, Raisen, Narmadapuram, Jabalpur, Narsinghpur, Mandla, Burhanpur, Betul, Shahdol, and Seoni. Light rain accompanied by thunderstorms is likely in key districts such as Bhopal, Indore, Dewas, Sehore, Khargone, Khandwa, and Harda.

Above-Average Rainfall in Madhya Pradesh

Since the onset of the monsoon on June 1, Madhya Pradesh has recorded approximately 11% more rainfall than the average for the season as of August 31. Eastern Madhya Pradesh has seen about 10% more rainfall than usual, while the western part of the state has received nearly 12% above-average rainfall.
