Today, August 14, the Meteorological Department has issued warnings for heavy to very heavy rainfall in isolated areas of East Rajasthan, South Interior Karnataka, Kerala, and Mahe. The monsoon continues to drench various parts of the country, with no signs of slowing down. Yesterday, some of the heaviest rainfall in the country was recorded in Tamil Nadu, Kerala, and Mahe, where weather conditions remain severe. A warning for thunderstorms and strong winds has been issued, particularly for coastal regions.

Today Weather Forecast:

According to the Meteorological Department, East Rajasthan is expected to experience very heavy rainfall today, August 14. Additionally, heavy rainfall is likely in isolated places across the Gujarat region, Tamil Nadu, Puducherry, Karaikal, Lakshadweep, Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Punjab, Haryana-Chandigarh, Uttar Pradesh, Rayalaseema, Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, West Bengal, Sikkim, West Rajasthan, and Jharkhand.

Monsoon Activities and Trough:

The IMD reports that the monsoon trough at sea level now extends from Bikaner, Delhi, Bareilly, Lucknow, Patna, Bankura, Digha, and further southeast towards the Bay of Bengal. This trough is influencing weather patterns across Northwest India.

Regional Rainfall Patterns:

  • Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand:  
  • Jammu-Kashmir, Haryana-Chandigarh-Delhi, Uttar Pradesh, and Rajasthan:  
  • Intermittent moderate rainfall is likely throughout the week.

Heavy Rainfall in Select Areas:

  • Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand, and Uttar Pradesh may experience heavy rainfall from August 14 to 20.
  • Punjab is expected to receive heavy rainfall on August 14.
  • West Rajasthan and Haryana-Chandigarh could see heavy rainfall between August 14 and 16.
  • East Rajasthan is forecasted to have heavy rainfall from August 15 to 17.
  • The Jammu division is likely to experience heavy rainfall from August 15 to 20.
