Weather update: Heavy rain and thunderstorms likely in several states including Telangana and Andhra Pradesh
Delhi Weather Update

Today, September 5, large parts of India are bracing for heavy to very heavy rainfall. According to the India Meteorological Department (IMD), Coastal Andhra Pradesh, Yanam, and Telangana are expected to experience the heaviest downpours, with isolated areas potentially facing extremely heavy rainfall. Additionally, thunderstorms accompanied by lightning and gusty winds (30-40 kmph) are highly likely in several locations across Telangana. The persistent rainfall over the past 3-4 days has already caused rivers and streams in Telangana to overflow, turning roads into virtual rivers and significantly disrupting public life. Flash floods in certain districts are making transportation difficult, affecting both residents and daily commuters.

Delhi Weather Update:

The national capital, Delhi, the IMD has forecast moderate to heavy rainfall for today, September 5. The forecast suggests that the NCR region could witness widespread and intense showers, creating a wet and stormy atmosphere. Since the morning, the sky has remained covered with thick, dark clouds, indicating a strong possibility of rain. While today may see heavier downpours, light to moderate showers are likely to continue over the next five days in the region. The maximum temperature today is expected to hover around 33°C, while the minimum will likely stay around 25°C. Residents are urged to be cautious of waterlogged streets and reduced visibility during the rain.

Heavy Rainfall Likely in These States:

Apart from Telangana and Andhra Pradesh, several other regions in the northeast and central India are also expected to witness heavy rainfall today. Areas such as Uttarakhand, Uttar Pradesh, Rajasthan weather, East Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Sub-Himalayan West Bengal & Sikkim, Bihar, Odisha, Arunachal Pradesh, Goa, Gujarat, and Karnataka are on alert for possible heavy showers, which could be accompanied by thunderstorms and lightning. These weather conditions may lead to localized flooding, landslides in hilly regions, and potential power outages in some areas.

The IMD has advised citizens across these regions to stay informed about local weather warnings and advisories. It is recommended to avoid unnecessary travel, especially in flood-prone areas, and to take all necessary precautions to ensure safety.
