A severe heatwave is gripping parts of North India, according to the Meteorological Department. On May 24, a heatwave warning has been issued for Delhi, Haryana, Punjab, Uttar Pradesh, Rajasthan, and Gujarat. Although there has been a slight decrease in maximum temperatures in Delhi on Thursday, it remains one degree above normal for this time of the year. The alert for a heatwave remains active in Delhi today, with temperatures expected to range between 42 to 31 degrees Celsius.

Temperature Soars in Madhya Pradesh and Gujarat:

In Guna, Madhya Pradesh weather, the maximum temperature has soared to 46.6 degrees Celsius, while other cities like Gwalior, Satna, Tikamgarh, Khandwa, Khajuraho, Shivpuri, and Neemuch are experiencing temperatures hovering around 45 degrees Celsius. Similarly, in Gujarat, Ahmedabad recorded 45.9 degrees Celsius, while temperatures in Rajkot and Gandhinagar are above 43 degrees Celsius. Meanwhile, in Uttar Pradesh's Unnao, the temperature touched 45 degrees Celsius, and in Punjab's Bathinda and Haryana's Sirsa, it reached 45.4 degrees Celsius. The country is bracing for a heatwave from May 25 to June 2, during which the heat is expected to intensify.

Rainfall Expected in Southern India: The IMD has forecast heavy rainfall in the southern regions of the country today, especially in states like Kerala, Karnataka, and Tamil Nadu. The monsoon seems to have set in over South and West India, raising hopes for rainfall in Central India soon.
