Heatwave Alert in Jharkhand

As the nation braces itself for the scorching summer months, a relentless heatwave grips several states, exacerbating the sweltering conditions. The onset of May brings with it a concerning mix of weather today, ranging from intense rainfall and snowfall in some areas to blistering heatwaves in others.
According to meteorological reports, the country is currently experiencing extreme temperatures, with the mercury soaring to alarming levels. Let's take a closer look at the states expected to bear the brunt of this oppressive heat today:

Heatwave Intensifies as Temperatures Surpass 45 Degrees Celsius in These Cities:

West Bengal: Meteorologists predict that several cities across West Bengal will witness temperatures exceeding 45 degrees Celsius on May 1st. Places such as Kalikunda, Bankura, Bishnupur, Sheoraphuli, and Shamsherganj are among those likely to face the brunt of this intense heat. Additionally, major cities like Kolkata, Asansol, Shriniketan, Sundarbans, and Ratuwa continue to reel under the scorching heat. Yesterday, Kalikunda recorded a staggering temperature of over 47 degrees Celsius, surpassing its average temperature by a significant margin of 10 degrees Celsius. Such abrupt spikes in temperature are becoming increasingly common across various cities in West Bengal, signaling the severity of the ongoing heatwave.

Jharkhand: Similarly, temperatures exceeding 45 degrees Celsius are being reported in various cities of Jharkhand. Meteorological forecasts indicate that on May 1st, Jamshedpur, Dhanbad, Kolhan, and Santal Paraganas, among others, will experience scorching temperatures, accompanied by the relentless heatwave. Additionally, the city of Ranchi is also expected to endure the oppressive heat today. In response to the escalating temperatures, authorities have issued directives to suspend classes up to the eighth grade in schools across Jharkhand.

Bihar, Odisha, Telangana: The meteorological department has issued warnings for Bihar, Odisha, and Telangana, anticipating a surge in temperatures and the likelihood of heatwaves on May 1st.

As the heatwave tightens its grip, particularly in the western regions of West Bengal, residents are urged to exercise caution and stay hydrated to combat the adverse effects of the blistering heat.
