On 29th April, districts like Kanpur, Jhansi, Varanasi, Gorakhpur, Ballia and Azamgarh in Uttar Pradesh are likely to experience severe heat. Similarly, Patna, Gaya, Begusarai, Muzaffarpur, Chhapra and other places in Bihar are likely to experience severe heatwave conditions, which is likely to persist for the next two days.
Recent records from Ramgarh in Jharkhand show that the temperature has risen to over 43 degrees Celsius, with Ranchi, Dhanbad and other places experiencing scorching heat. West Bengal's Kolkata, Asansol, Ratu and Sunderbans are also on high alert due to rising temperatures.
Also, the Met department has issued a warning for possible heat waves in various areas of Odisha, raising concerns of a nationwide heat wave.
