Complete information about crops available with a single click

On Thursday, Union Agriculture Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan introduced a new mobile application called the National Pest Surveillance System. This app enables farmers to upload images of their pest-affected crops directly from their fields. According to media reports, this feature will aid the government in collecting critical data to tackle pest infestations and provide better support for crop protection.

Program to Offer Expert Pesticide Advice and Agricultural Guidance:

Minister Chouhan highlighted that the app will not only provide farmers with accurate advice but also guide them in selecting the right pesticides for pest control. Additionally, starting in September, the government will launch a program named "Farmers' Talk" on All India Radio. This initiative will feature discussions between farmers and agricultural scientists to address various agricultural challenges. The program will be broadcast once on Akashvani, following Prime Minister Narendra Modi's "Mann Ki Baat."

Boosting Crop Yields with the Natural Farming Mission:

The Agriculture Minister encouraged agricultural science centers (KVKs) to engage directly with farmers and integrate advanced technologies into their farming practices. He advocated for natural farming techniques, assuring that if implemented correctly, they would not lead to reduced yields. The Ministry of Agriculture has prepared a Natural Farming Mission, set to be launched soon. This mission aims to enhance crop yields and improve the economic well-being of farmers through sustained government efforts.

Strengthening the Link between KVKs and Farmers:

Minister Chouhan stressed the importance of establishing a strong connection between KVKs and farmers. The focus will be on rapidly delivering scientific advancements to farmers. Upcoming discussions between scientists and farmers will explore new agricultural technologies and methods for boosting crop production. Media reports suggest that the "Farmers' Talk" program may commence in September, potentially a week before Prime Minister Modi's "Mann Ki Baat" program. This initiative will also highlight new farming techniques and strategies to increase crop yields.
