Under the National Agriculture Development Scheme, the UP government is promoting horticulture across the state. Farmers can benefit from this subsidy by registering with the Horticulture Department. The state government is providing subsidized fertilizers to farmers cultivating mango and guava. The government believes that engaging in horticulture will increase farmers' income. To receive free mango and guava saplings from the Horticulture Department, farmers need to apply for this scheme. According to media reports, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath's government is encouraging horticulture in the state under the National Agriculture Development Scheme.
Not all farmers are eligible for this subsidy. Only those who own their land can benefit. Eligible farmers need to register with the Horticulture Department by submitting their Aadhar card, bank passbook, land records, and mobile number. Currently, farmers in Mau district can start cultivating mango and guava.
The Horticulture Department has set a goal to plant mango and guava orchards on a total of 15 hectares in Mau district. So far, farmers have submitted applications for up to 12 hectares. This scheme operates on a first-come, first-served basis. Under this scheme, a farmer can engage in horticulture on areas ranging from 2 hectares to approximately 4 hectares.
Monsoon is Ideal for Horticulture: Farmers cultivating mango and guava will also receive technical support from Horticulture Department staff. Additionally, farmers will be provided with subsidized fertilizers. The District Horticulture Officer mentioned that the monsoon season is considered the best time for horticulture as plants grow rapidly during this period. Farmers are encouraged to apply and take advantage of the scheme during the monsoon.
