In order to prevent wheat crops from catching fire, the Agriculture Department has issued guidance to farmers, urging them to refrain from lighting fires near the fields. The department has advised farmers to ensure that no one smokes cigarettes or bidis in the fields, as even a single spark could ignite dry wheat fields. Agricultural experts have noted, "It has been observed that sparks from agricultural machinery can also trigger fires. Therefore, all possible measures should be taken to minimize friction in the moving parts of agricultural machinery to prevent fires.

Additionally, the department has advised farmers to switch off transformers near their fields, as short circuits can also lead to fires. They mentioned that there is relatively no requirement for farmers to irrigate their fields, and in such instances, transformers supplying electricity to tube wells can be deactivated.
