Drones for modern farming

Drones are becoming increasingly important not only in agriculture but also in various other sectors. They save time and costs while improving quality in farming operations. As a result, the demand for trained drone operators and those with drone training has skyrocketed. Due to the high cost of drones, often exceeding ₹10 lakh, many farmers cannot afford to purchase them. This has led to a significant increase in the demand for trained drone operators for agricultural tasks. The government is also promoting the use of agricultural drones in farming.

Importance of Drones in Agriculture:

Agricultural drones have greatly saved farmers time and costs. A drone is an unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV). Drones are used for monitoring climate change, natural disasters, photography, filmmaking, and delivery of goods. The first drone approved by the Government of India, Agribot, was developed in just 35 days. In agriculture, drones are used for soil and field analysis and to predict upcoming weather conditions.

Drone Training in Government Institutions:

Government institutions are offering certificate training programs for operating drones. Proper training is provided for operating drones or using them correctly. Several state governments, including Telangana, and the Ministry of Agriculture, offer drone training through institutions like the Indira Gandhi National Flight Academy. Delhi University also offers courses for operating drones.
