MP Weather: heavy downpours lash Madhya Pradesh, rainfall 20% above average
Weather Alert for Heavy Rain

Madhya Pradesh has been experiencing continuous and heavy monsoon rains. On Sunday, August 5th, most districts of the state saw significant rainfall. Gwalior recorded the highest rainfall, while the monsoon is active across most districts. The heavy rains have caused major rivers and small streams to swell, with the Narmada River witnessing such a strong flow that the Bargi Dam reached its capacity, prompting the opening of 17 out of its 21 gates on Sunday.

According to the Meteorological Department, Gwalior recorded the highest rainfall on Sunday with 44 millimeters. Other notable rainfall figures include Pachmarhi with 41 mm, Shivpuri with 37 mm, Tikamgarh with 31 mm, Guna with 27 mm, Betul with 24 mm, Raisen with 24 mm, Ratlam with 23 mm, Bhopal with 19 mm, Narmadapuram with 16 mm, Ujjain with 14 mm, Indore with 9 mm, Dhar with 8 mm, Khandwa with 17 mm, Chhindwara with 17 mm, Damoh with 14 mm, Khajuraho with 13 mm, Mandla with 3 mm, Narsinghpur with 2 mm, Rewa with 3 mm, Sagar with 3 mm, Satna with 21 mm, Seoni with 4 mm, and Balaghat with 13 mm.

Flooding in Bhopal:

The state capital, Bhopal, the heavy rainfall led to significant waterlogging in several low-lying areas, with water levels rising up to a foot. So far, Madhya Pradesh has received about 20% more rainfall than the average. Eastern Madhya Pradesh has seen 17% more rainfall than average, while Western Madhya Pradesh has experienced 22% more rainfall.

Weather Alert for Heavy Rain:

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a warning for extremely heavy rainfall in several districts today, Monday, August 5th. The districts expected to experience heavy rainfall include Shivpuri, Guna, Ashoknagar, and Rajgarh. Other districts that may see heavy rain include Neemuch, Mandsaur, Ratlam, Narmadapuram, Raisen, Harda, Ujjain, Shajapur, Bhopal weather, Sehore, Khandwa, Burhanpur, Dewas, Vidisha, Sagar, Damoh, Betul, Jhabua, Barwani, Gwalior, Alirajpur, Seoni, Chhindwara, Niwari, Tikamgarh, Chhatarpur, Panna, Katni, Jabalpur, Narsinghpur, Morena, Bhind, Datia, Indore, and Khargone.
