Yesterday, bone-chilling cold day conditions gripped East Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, Punjab, and West Uttar Pradesh, extending to isolated pockets in Haryana-Chandigarh, northwest Rajasthan, and Gangetic West Bengal. Severe cold day conditions persisted in scattered areas of Punjab, northwest Rajasthan, Uttar Pradesh, and eastern Bihar. The cold grip persists, with cold day to severe cold day conditions likely in parts of Delhi, Punjab and Haryana-Chandigarh on January 16th, extending to cold day conditions in some areas on January 17th. Isolated pockets of Uttar Pradesh and Bihar will also continue to face these conditions on January 16th.
Looking ahead, a fresh Western Disturbance is set to impact the Western Himalayan Region from the night of January 16, 2024. Anticipate light rainfall and snowfall in isolated places over Jammu-Kashmir-Ladakh-Gilgit-Baltistan-Muzaffarabad and Himachal Pradesh on January 16th and 17th, followed by Uttarakhand on January 17th and 18th.
Rainfall was observed at isolated places over the Andaman & Nicobar Islands from 08:30 to 17:30 hours IST yesterday. From January 16th to 18th, 2024, light to moderate rainfall is expected in isolated to some places across Bihar, Jharkhand, Chhattisgarh, Odisha, West Bengal & Sikkim, and Northeast India.
