Residents of Delhi and the surrounding NCR region are set to experience a severe heatwave over the next four days, with extreme temperatures and scorching winds expected to make daily life challenging. Yesterday, Sunday, saw temperatures soar across northern India, disrupting routine activities. In Najafgarh, Delhi weather, the mercury reached a sweltering 47.8 degrees Celsius, the highest recorded so far this year.

Delhi Weather Update for May 20:

According to the Meteorological Department, clear skies are forecast for today, Monday, May 20. However, there is a severe heatwave alert in place, with strong hot winds expected throughout the day. The daytime temperatures in Delhi are predicted to hover between 44 and 45 degrees Celsius. The IMD forecasts a maximum temperature of 45 degrees Celsius and a minimum of 28 degrees Celsius for today. A severe heatwave warning has been issued for the next four days, posing a significant challenge for the residents of Delhi.

In response to the severe heatwave conditions, the National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) has released public guidelines on how to stay safe during the heatwave.

Workers Struggle with Heat and Hot Winds: Delhi's large population of labourers and low-income workers, who spend their days working under the harsh sun, are particularly affected by the extreme heat and hot winds. The relentless temperatures are testing the endurance of these vulnerable communities.
